Questions, answered plainly.

The honest answers to what stops most people from buying a website — pricing, process, tech, and what it's actually like to work with us.

Pricing

Why do you publish prices instead of sending a quote?

Because a fixed number you can read is worth more than a quote you have to ask for. Every package on this site has a published price, so you know what a project costs before you talk to anyone. Custom scope outside these packages still gets a real conversation — the packages themselves don’t.

What does “from $X” mean?

“From” tiers cover scope that varies with a business’s specific pages, products, or content — the number shown is the entry point for a standard version of that tier. We confirm the exact scope, and the exact price, before any deposit is charged. Tiers without “from” (Landing Page Design, Brand Kit, Care Plans, one-time SEO) are flat, fixed prices — what you see is what you pay.

How do deposits work?

Project tiers marked “50% deposit” charge half the package price at checkout to book the work. The balance is invoiced when the deliverable is complete, before final files or site access are handed over. Tiers marked “full” are charged in full at checkout. Monthly services charge the first month at checkout and bill automatically after that.

Can I pay in installments beyond the deposit?

The standard structure is deposit plus balance on delivery, or full payment for smaller fixed-price tiers. If a project needs a different structure, say so on the enquiry form and we’ll work it out before any deposit is charged.

Process

What happens right after I check out?

You get an order confirmation with a reference number. Checkout doesn’t notify us automatically yet, so email that reference to support@thelegacydesign.com (or call +1 (505) 919-9741) and we’ll schedule your kickoff call from there. From there we run the process on /process/: Discover, Define, Design, Build, Launch, Care.

How long does a project take?

It depends on the package — a landing page can be live in one to two weeks; a full Signature website runs eight to twelve weeks. Each service page states the typical range for its own tiers. These are estimates based on you supplying content and feedback on schedule, not guarantees.

What do you need from me during the project?

Mainly two things: the content (copy, photos, logos, product info) and timely feedback at each review round. The process page spells out exactly what’s needed at each stage and how it affects the timeline.

Do I get to see the design before it’s finished?

Yes. Every project runs through structured review rounds — how many depends on the package — so you see and sign off on the direction before we build the rest of the site around it.

Technical

What platform do you build on?

It depends on the project. Marketing and brochure sites are typically hand-built for speed and control; e-commerce stores run on a platform sized to the catalog. We choose the platform to fit the business, and tell you exactly what you’re getting before you buy.

Will I be able to update the site myself?

Yes — every build includes a content-editable structure and a short handoff walkthrough so you (or whoever runs your marketing) can update text, images, and basic content without calling a developer for every change.

Do you handle hosting and domains?

We can point you to hosting that fits the build, and we manage hosting directly for anyone on a Website Care Plan. Domain registration stays in your name — we never register a client’s domain in ours.

Is the site mobile-friendly and fast?

Every build is responsive by default and built against a real performance budget, not just “looks fine on my phone.” Speed is part of the deliverable, not an afterthought.

Working together

Do I need a discovery call before I buy?

No. Standard packages are scoped clearly enough to buy directly — add a package to your cart, check out, and we schedule the kickoff after. If your project doesn’t fit a standard package, use the contact form and we’ll scope it properly first.

What if I need something that isn’t in a package?

Tell us on the enquiry form, or use the “scope outside these packages” link at the bottom of any service’s pricing table. Custom scope gets a real conversation and a written proposal — it’s the one place we don’t publish a price up front, because the scope itself isn’t fixed yet.

Who actually does the design work?

One senior designer works your project start to finish — not a rotating account team and not a junior hand-off after the sale.

Can I cancel or change a package after I’ve paid the deposit?

See our Refund & Cancellation Policy for the exact terms — in short, deposits are refundable if you cancel within 72 hours of ordering and before the kickoff call; after that, the deposit books the work and isn’t refunded, though most projects can still be rescoped.
